The 43rd annual Golden Joystick Awards unfolded on Thursday, and in a stunning show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the biggest winner. The breakout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive won the prestigious Top Game award, along with prizes for Superb Storytelling and Best Visual Design.
Adding to the developer's triumph, the gifted cast also received individual awards. Jennifer English won Outstanding Lead Performance for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Performer for his work as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive itself was honored as Best Development Team. In total, Clair Obscur and its makers achieved 7 awards throughout the show.
Additional major winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which won Outstanding Audio and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Top Self-Published Indie and Best PC Game. It is important to note, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the public, with only 4 categories—Critics' Pick, Rising Star, Hall of Fame, and Streamers' Favorite—judged by experts.
