The Scottish side kicked off their Champions Cup journey in perfect fashion with a crucial four-try win on the road against Sale Sharks.
Taking advantage of the wind at their backs, Sale began strongly and raced to a fourteen-point advantage within the first quarter. Tries from the Sale skipper and teenage debutant Ollie Davies put them in command.
But, Glasgow responded well with a pair of scores prior to the interval. Hooker Gregor Hiddleston and flanker Darge both crossed to narrow the deficit.
Further second-half scores from captain Kyle Steyn and Stafford McDowall extended the Warriors' advantage to 26-14. A late try for the hosts set up a tense finale, but the visitors held firm to claim a significant opening victory.
The match began with a quick try as Sale captain Ernst van Rhyn drove over from close range after just two minutes. An early injury to centre Ma'asi-White brought 19-year-old Davies into the fray for his European debut.
Davies made an instant contribution. Moving to fly-half, he ran a smart angle to collect an pass and touch down, making the home side's advantage.
Against difficult weather, Glasgow used their set-piece to fight back into the contest. A strong driving maul was finished by front-rower Hiddleston. Prior to the break, Rory Darge forced his way over, with Hastings' kick making it a two-point deficit at the interval.
Glasgow took the lead for the first occasion soon after the second half. A poor kick was gathered by number eight Dempsey, who set up skipper Steyn to burst through a challenge and sprint to the line.
With in the ascendancy, they clinched the fourth try when McDowall powered past a defender to score his 100th appearance for the club. That score capped a sequence of 26 unanswered points.
The hosts gave themselves a lifeline when Louw showed good footwork to cross. The conversion made it a one-score game with time remaining.
A final chance arose for Sale from a throw in the 22, but they failed to secure the ball, confirming the Warriors' triumph.
Sale Sharks must bounce back ahead of a trip to face Clermont this weekend. In contrast, Glasgow Warriors will welcome European giants Toulouse to Scotstoun.
Both sides are drawn in a strong Pool One that also features Saracens and Durban-based outfit the Hollywoodbets Sharks.
