Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest Far Cry game that players explored was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for embracing action and insanity with similar enthusiasm, all while telling captivating, ideologically themed tales. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two producers whose work have embodied all of those qualities.

Show Details

Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game series, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' structure by having a different setting and group of personalities in every instalment.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we have no details on what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the creator.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant trust and assistance.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology series. Every instalment is a interpretation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can shift from year to year, while always exploring the nature of society through this complex and turbulent viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and introduce our mutual unconventional, daring approach to the audience.”

A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
