Rob Edwards along with O'Neil are two of the early names under consideration to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday after the squad's ten-game without a victory beginning to the top-flight season.

And both candidates - both of who have historic associations to the team - are part of the options to be evaluated by the club ownership.

The manager is presently at another club, which would pose a possible hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton manager - who played more than 100 of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys backing from the club directors as they start the process of hiring a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected contender, although he would be a shock appointment given he was released by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed meaning the club would not be required to provide any compensation.
